“Remove this gun from my head or use it.” Otto spits.

“Trust me when I say I’m going to use it but not just yet.” Jakolbi tells him.

“You dare show your face in my club again after leaving with this young boy last night?” Otto asks, directing his question towards me. He’s asking a question, but an answer isn’t what he’s looking for. “You made me lose a lot of money last night bitch. How dare you bring your ass back here?”

“Here we go with that term bitch again.” Jakolbi says with a laugh before I can answer. “Now correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t I teach you a lesson about using the term bitch with my girl in my presence? Because I’m pretty sure I did.”

When he calls me his girl, my eyes shoot to him. I know he can feel them burning a hole in the side of his face, but he says nothing, not even looking my way as I stare at him. My insides feel hollow listening to him defend me as if we didn’t just meet last night. It’s like we’ve been together forever, and Otto came into our lives, taking something that didn’t belong to him, which was me.

“You think I can’t hire more security after you dropped the last ones I had?” Otto questions. Taking a step closer, Jakolbi lifts his gun a little higher, reminding Otto what type of time he on. “Fuck you, that gun, and the bitch you stole!”

Tired of Otto running his mouth, Jakolbi takes the gun and backhands Otto in the mouth with it.

“Agghhh.” Otto screams in pain as his body falls to the floor.

He tries to stand but before he can, Jakolbi is standing over him, leaving his shoe imprint on his face.

“Shut yo’ ass up!” Jakolbi barks. “You such a man but down on that floor hollering like the bitch I said you were.”

“Let’s just get the money and go.” I say, trying to stop Jakolbi from going further.

“You don’t have to feel sorry for this clown Lola.” Jakolbi spits. “After all he did to you, don’t you want to see him suffer?”

In all honesty, seeing him suffer would definitely put a smile on my face. But in reality, I just want to end this and move forward with my life.

“I don’t feel sorry for him.” I tell him. “I just want us to get what we came for and leave.”

Jakolbi eyes me for a moment, before he backs away from Otto, coming to stand next to me. He leans over, kissing my forehead, as he tucks me into his side.

“Go grab your money ma.” He says softly.

Doing as told, I rush over to my vanity, pulling it away from the wall. Once it’s out in the middle of the floor, I look behind me to find both Jakolbi and Otto watching me like hawk.

Turning around, I press lightly on a soft spot on the wall, watching as a hidden door pops open.

“What the fuck is that?” Otto asks.

“It’s my hiding spot.” I answer.

“When the fuck did you put that there?” He questions further.

“Right around the time I found out you were having sex with Shanice. You know? The one you like to call Berry” I tell him.

Reaching inside of the dark space, I remove one large black duffle bag, then a second one right after. I also remove a folder with personal documents, tucking it under my shoulder as I lift both bags from the floor.

As I walk back over to where Jakolbi stands, three men enter the room with us but only two of them look familiar.

“Yoooo Otto.” Benny laughs. “Who got that red shit leaking from yo’ head like that?”

“Say man, looks like that shit gone leave a knot when it heals.” Jaymo laughs.

“Took y’all long enough to get in here.” Jakolbi scoffs.

“We were waiting for ya’ boy to pull up.” Benny says pointing to the man in the suit.

“What’s all this?” Otto says, getting frustrated.

The man in the suit walks over to my vanity, placing his suitcase down. He takes his time opening the case, before pulling out some papers, then takes long slow strides towards Otto. When he’s standing in front of him, he outstretches his hand, offering the papers he’d removed from the briefcase to Otto.

“These are for you.” The man says.

“What the fuck is this shit?” Otto asks while scanning the papers he was just handed.

Coming to join the group, Jakolbi comes to stand, next to the man in the suit.

“This is proof that you’re not the real owner of this club.” He says.

The gasp from my mouth is telling because as soon as those words fall from Jakolbi’s lips, I drop the bags in my hand to the floor. As far as I know, Otto does own this club and everything else he occupies. Therefore, hearing this information is shocking news to me.

“What do you mean?” I ask.

Otto’s eyes grow wide at the mere mention of the truth getting ready to come out.

“This is my club!” Otto shouts. “You came here and took what you wanted so just leave.” He spits shoving the papers back in the direction of the man in the suit.

“Not until you sign those documents, giving them to the rightful owner.” The man in the suit says.

Otto narrows his eyes at the man as he speaks, often looking at me then back at the man wearing the suit.

“This is my bus…” Otto starts but doesn’t finish as Jakolbi’s fist connects with his jaw.

“What is going on?” I ask confused. “Somebody please explain what’s happening here.”

“What’s going on is you’re the rightful owner of this club, the house he’s been living in, that truck he’s driving, and another house he’s purchased to put his family in.” The man says.

“Family?” I say seething. “What fucking family?”

“Please man damn.” Otto begs. “You have her already; you don’t need to do this.”

“Stop begging and shit and just shut the fuck up.” Jakolbi barks.

He jumps at Otto, who in turn flinches.

“You have a family, Otto?” I question, tears slowly rolling down my cheeks.

“Yes.” He says simply. “I needed money to provide for my family and didn’t know how. I saw you that one day, all alone and lost, and an idea just clicked. This place was going out of business, so I convinced the original to let me take it off his hands. I didn’t have the proper things I needed to purchase the building, but I had you. You were easy.”

With a simple shrug of his shoulders, he shrugs me off like he doesn’t have to explain himself to me when in reality he does.

Walking up to him, I slap the shit out him before kicking him in the balls, bringing him to his knees before me. When he’s hunched over on the floor, I take calculated steps forward, standing directly in face, and smile.

“How does it feel to be on all fours for me?” I ask. “Many of nights this was the position you beat me in until I couldn’t move. One night I swear I was going to bleed to death, only to find out I was having a miscarriage.” His brows furrow when he hear’s that news since it’s something he hadn’t heard before. “I was soooo sad when the doctor told me what had happened. My first child was beat right out of by a no good as man that said he loved me many, many times only for it to be a lie.”

“I meant every single word.” Otto says interrupting me.

“Yeah right. I bet you love me just as much as that family you never told me about huh?” I laugh.

“We’re not here for this.” The man in the suit says. “All of these assets are in your name Ms. Lola. He used your information to open everything. He’s going to sign all of this over to you and you will become the new owner.”

“I ain’t signing shit!” Otto says.

Jakolbi lifts the gun from down by his side, pointing it in the direction of Otto’s head once more.

“Ight, ight.” Otto pleads. “I’ll sign, just don’t kill me.”

The sound of Benny and Jaymo laughing light up the room into something contagious. We burst out into laughter as Otto begs for his life.

Handing him the pen from the man in the suit, he takes it, scribbling his name on the paper. Snatching it from him, I hand it over to the man in the suit who verifies the signatures. With a nod of his head, he gives the okay that everything is done. He places the papers in his briefcase, closes it, then takes his leave.

Once he’s gone, Benny and Jaymo grab my two bags of cash and the envelope with all my personal documents, leaving the room as well.

“Now that that’s done, let’s go ahead and end this.” Jakolbi says.

“Okay baby.” I say, leaning on my tip toes to kiss his lips.

Taking a step backwards, not wanting my clothes to get messed up, I wait to see what’s about to happen. Otto’s eyes grow wide when Jakolbi’s gun clicks because he knows exactly how this is going to end.

A wicked grin creases Jakolbi’s face as he pulls the trigger, silencing Otto’s cries.

“Don’t worry yourself with this mess ma.” Jakolbi says as he turns to me. “One of my guys will clean this up, making it look like new.”

“I wasn’t never worried baby. I trust that you got me.” I tell him.

“What are you going to do now?” He asks.

“I’m selling his families house for sure. But I’m going to keep this place and give the girls a better place.” I answer.

“Now you can create you own happy ending, although some happy endings come from the barrel of a gun.” He says.

Smiling up at him, I know my life is about to get interesting. I’m ready to see where this next chapter goes. Fuck Otto and all the shit he did to me.

It’s my turn to shine now.

I’m up.
